Through the metal element we experience feelings of joy, inspiration and insight. Our communication and attitudes are positive, healthy, and fluid. We have a sense of our own worth and of the value of the everyday specialness of life.
Metal Element represents two areas of the bagua map: Creativity and Children and Guidance (Helpful People and Travel).
The Creativity area has the following energy:
- joy
- celebration and playfulness
- gratitude
The Guidance area has this energy:
- trust in yourself
- cultivating your sense of intuition and insight
- letting go of the need to ‘know’, and of the need to control
- letting go of the outcome
- adaptability
The Creativity area is located on the right middle area, and the Guidance (Helpful People) area is located on the right front area as you face the front door. The following diagram of the bagua map shows you where these areas are located. If you need directions on how to apply the bagua map to your home, see How to Draw the Bagua Map.
Metal Element Symbols
Symbols of the Metal element are anything made from metal, anything that has a metallic finish and the shapes associated with the metal area: circles, domes and arches. See colours below for each of the two bagua areas:
Symbols for the Creativity area
To increase your sense of joy and celebration of your life chose some of these feng shui enhancements in the Creativity area of your home:
- Colour for this area are white and pastel shades of any colour
- Things that have been hand created are especially appropriate here
- Put whimsical items that give you enjoyment in this area
- Anything that stimulates creativity in your life, or brings you joy such as favorite places to visit
- Add any items that have a personal association to creativity and children.
Symbols for the Guidance (Helpful People) area
- Colours for the area are black, grey and white
- Candles or illumination, representing insight
- Your written prayers, affirmations or blessings
- Religious objects depicting the image of Buddha, Jesus, Mary, Angels or Goddesses
- Other objects that have a spiritual or sacred meaning to you
- Photographs of yourself and/or other people in your life.
Choose Your Symbols
In addition to the traditional symbols listed above for the Metal element, what personal symbols do you have that represent the intentions and energy of these two areas? How will they support the changes you want to bring into your life?
Placing Your Enhancement
Place your symbols in Creativity area, and/and the Guidance area area of your home or office. As always, place your enhancements with ceremony and intention, either silently with intention, with prayer, or spoken words. I particularly like this blessing from Julia Cameron:
I am blessed by the guidance of Spirit in many forms. I open my heart and my mind to the influence of higher forces. I relinquish my definition of myself as small and limited. I invite guidance and inspiration. I welcome new thoughts and perceptions, larger perspectives and possibilities. Rather than insist on being the sole author of my life, I invite the collaborative forces of the universe. Synchronicity, coincidence, reinforcement, and serendipity–these are the friendly companions which speak to me clearly of higher realms. Rather than close my mind to the possibility of active spiritual intervention in my affairs. I commit to noticing, noting and acknowledging the support which I actually receive. Life is an orchestra. I am at once a musician, a music, a conductor, a composer, and an audience. I recognize my multiple roles and I embrace the harmonics of my accompaniment. I am perfectly, intricately partnered. I count this partnership a central blessing in my life.

Hi Deborah,
I am still following you every day. The task today is paper clutter. Although I am usually very organized this is one area the can use some help. Wish me luck on sorting files.
