Day 30 Dreaming into the Future

Day 30 Feng Shui Life Make-Over

by Deborah Redfern, Feng Shui Studies

We have come to the last day of this program. In this 30 day Feng Shui Life Make-Over, we have dreamed. We have made plans, moved things, let things go, and come to realizations.

Together we have celebrated, taken time for joy and nurturing activites. We’ve taken risks and shaken things up. We’ve created sacred space.

Everything we do, we do in the present. We do it for ourselves in the present, with one eye looking into the future. It is a dichotomy because the future is actually being created right now. We do not usually see it this way of course, because we do not have the evidence from one moment to the next that we are actually creating change. We want to see something concrete, some dramatic change before we believe it.

What if it were the other way around, that if you believe it, you’ll see it? Doing feng shui enhancements and the other activities during this 30 day program is the belief. The changes you have been making are so powerful and you probably have seen some big shifts.

On Day One of this program I wrote:

You see, even though in feng shui we are concerned with our environment (really, our belongings) and the flow of energy, it is not for the sake of the environment. It is for our own sake: all our human ‘doings and beings’ and what we want to create and experience.  Our belongings and surroundings are there to serve us after all, so it all comes back to what we want to bring into our life.

We do feng shui not to have ‘good feng shui’ but because it influences how we feel and how we are able to manifest change. The final thing I want to leave you with in this program is a personal feng shui technique for manifesting change.

Exercise for Day 30

It is said that as you feel it so you become it. In other words, if you can imagine it and then allow that energy in, it automatically flows into being.

Go back to the intention you set for doing this program on Day 1. What change(s) did you want to make? What was your intention. What kind of home energy did you desire? Now ask yourself how you would feel if you had those things.

Here is an example of some of the questions you can ask yourself:

  • How would I hold my body?
  • how would I act?
  • what would I say?
  • how would I treat others?
  • how I dress?
  • how would I think?

So for example: ”I desire peace in my life”: I would hold my head high and make eye contact. I would be very present and attentive to what other people are saying. I would notice little things. I would smile, be soft-spoken; gentle but firm. I would be calm but present, and have a senst of my own boundaries. I feel comfortable and at ease.

The next step is to actually do those things. Carry your body in they way you think someone who had the qualities you want would. Act that way, talk that way, treat others that way, dress that way, think that way.

Another exercise that is very powerful is to write a letter from the future. Dated one year, two years or five years into the future, write a letter to yourself (or a friend) about the changes that have happened in your life during this period. As you imagine it and flesh out the details you will begin to create the energy field for it to occur. It is a dream, an imagining, but as Victor Hugo said:

There is nothing like a dream to create the future.

It has been my honour and pleasure to be your guide in this 30 day Feng Shui life Make-Over. I have learned much about myself as I was writing it and there is much still to be absorbed.

Of course just because the 30 days is over, it doesn’t mean our time together is over. I will no doubt be revisiting many of the ‘days’ by going back and working on a deeper level, or just doing it again, and I invite you to do the same. Feng Shui is never ‘done’. It is a journey, one we are privileged and blessed to take.

You have my support for your journey.

    Dear Deborah,

I have followed you everyday and have enjoyed this journey very much. My intention on day one was for support during this time of our lives. Our doctor makes house calls, the pharmacy delivers as does the grocery store. So in these times when we feel it is difficult to receive help it truly is there waiting. We just have to open up,ask and be prepared to receive. I am continuing to work with our home and loving it as much as it wants to love us. Blessings Jill
