Follow-Up – my 30 Day Feng Shui Life-Makeover

Hi there!

As I look around my house and see all the benefits of doing the 30 day program, I am filled with a sense of satisfaction. Things are moving forward nicely!

I have to admit the hardest part of my program has been my paper and files. I am still not finished even though I really didn’t have a lot to go through to begin with, but I knew I was putting it off. I find it is the area that creates the most uncertainty and upheaval for me. But I am remembering to celebrate what I’ve done in this area!

I have let go of about half of my files (which I hardly ever used and never looked at. I was keeping them ‘just in case’.) I’ve also reorganized what I am keeping (though I would like to do a better job of that.) Now I have one filing drawer left to go through and I am certain I will find information in them which can be incorporated into my other already sorted files. The drawer that is left is the one I use most often. It is intended for my current projects, but papers and computer discs tend to get dumped there, when they are not needed to be accessed on a regular basis. I recognize that I need a folder for items that need to be filed!

But the areas I’m having the most difficulty with is in my writing – the books and courses I’ve created. Do I need to keep paper copies of them? And what does ‘need’ mean? Do I need them as a back up in the unlikely event of losing my computer files, my backups and the on-line published versions all at the same time? Probably not!

Do I need them in an emotional sense? Yes, I think I’ve hit the nail on the head. I need the physical thing, that I can touch and make notes on, and as a reminder of what work I’ve already done, because I do tend to forget.

Now the mixed feelings make sense to me and I know what I need to do!

What about you? Have there been any areas of that you felt ’stuck’ in as you’ve worked through this program? Did you resolve them and if so, how?

    Hi Debbie,
I’ve been slowly following the 30 day makeover. However, being busy and procrastinating some it’s taking its time, as you can probably tell by the date of this e-mail. I read them daily as you posted and kept them in the back of my mind and did what I could, when I could, minus a few exceptions. One being sending you this e-mail (not sure what day it was), thanking you for helping me get the lead out. I got some closets cleaned, donated clothes and gave away what ever I wasn’t using etc.
I shared what I was doing with a friend (who doesn’t have a computer) and she would thank you too. We walk and talk about what we’ve accomplished and what we’re doing next.
I feel my house has a little less clutter and so does my mind.
    Thanks again,
    Cathy

    Hi Cathy!

Thank you for writing. It does take time and as you say, you just do what you can. Even thinking about it and saying what you want is powerful.

For example, one of my goals was to find a family doctor; I made some calls and was getting nowhere, and then just from being in the right place at the right time I heard about someone who just added two new doctors to her practice and I got taken on as a patient. Its a big relief!

Keep going…you never know what is around the corner!

    D
