Yes I have a new book in progress; her working title is “Home Sensibilities”. Now this is going to sound completely unrelated but it actually is: here on the north Pacific coast, we are enjoying blissful weather with warm days verging on hot, and cool refreshing mornings, and it is only those early evenings (twilight at 8:00 now!) that I know that it really is the Fall. And so, by chance, this morning I was working on my chapter about late summer and the Earth element. Here is the passage I wanted to share with you:
“In the cycles of seasons, the Earth element represents late summer and the gathering of harvests. It is a time of abundance, and when the harvest is successful, it signifies the ability to nurture and sustain life during the winter.The work we have done now comes to a place of inner reflection and contemplation; an inner harvest.
Earth element is also receptive and nurturing. The energy of Earth, the highest expression of yin, is a gathering in of all that is nurturing and sustaining. It represents female energy and specifically the nurturing energy of the mother archetype.”

As the Autumn sets in, remember that this is a yin time, an inward-looking time. It is why I have spent the last few weeks tidying my nest, discarding what I no longer need and rearranging my furniture. Even though I am very busy, I know that this time of organization brings me to a place where I can focus my energy more effectively, especially as I push towards the deadline of my book.
